The Sanskrit word - AUM (OM) is everything. It is the source. It is the vibration & consciousness of the entire universe.
1) The Conscious or Waking State [JAGRAT] :
The down and the larger curve represents the waking state. It is the most common state of human consciousness. This state experiences the world through the five senses.
2) Dream State [SWAPNA] :
The curve that lies between the deep sleep and the waking state is called dream state. In this state the dreamer experiences a world behind the closed eyes.
3) The Unconscious or Deep Sleep State [SUSUPTI] :
The top curve indicates the state of deep sleep. It is a state where sleeper is desiring nothing and having no dreams.
4) The Absolute State [TURIYA] :
The dot signifies the fourth state of consciousness. This quite, peaceful and blissful state is the ultimate aim of all spiritual activity.
5) World of Illusion [MAYA] :
This state is what gets in the way of spiritual development. This semi-circle doesn't touch the dot, means the highest state of consciousness is not affected by maya or the Illusion.
